Sarawak State Library Receives Books Published By USM Press

The Sarawak State Library is continually collaborating with publishers to expand its selection of books. This collaboration aims to strengthen the relationship between the two parties and stimulate growth of readership, as well as promoting scholarly engagement. Following from this and during Pesta Buku Borneo Exhibition 2017 which was held at Plaza Merdeka Kuching, the Sarawak State Library received a selection of books published by Penerbit Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM Press).


Established in 1972, the USM Press promotes, disseminates and preserves scholarly, creative and scientific works through its publications. In the Malaysian academic publishing industry, the USM Press is seen as a leading university press for extensively peer-reviewed academic books, journals by renowned scholars and distinctive titles which impact local and international communities. The USM Press publishes about 50 titles a year and carries more than 1000 backlist titles since its inception.


Among the book received were Akal Budi dalam Sastera Rakyat Naratif dan Bukan Naratif’, Dinamisme Etnik dan Sosiobudaya Melayu, Locating the Soul of Healing Performance in Malaysia, Traditional Medicine: Current Practice and Belief, Perubatan Tradisional: Aplikasi Semasa, Nusantara Daripada Pelbagai Perspektif Kearifan Tempatan, Masyarakat Nusantara dalam Budaya, Warisan dan Sejarah, Sistem Maklumat Geografi dan Pengurusan Bandar dalam Kearifan Tempatan, Local Knowledge for A Globalized World and Integrating Local Knowledge with Science and Technology.


The books were handed over by thePublication Officer of USM Press, Mohd Zaidi Abdullah to the Head of Corporate Management Sector of Sarawak State Library, Wan Mazli Wan Razali. Also present were the Head of Depository Sector, Hayati Sabil and the Publication Officer of USM Press, Zulkifli Bin Musa,
